Inaugural Cricket Breakfast (Friday, 16/12/2011)
Our SAS Trust was delighted to be chosen as the Charitable Partner to the Western Australian Cricket Association.
In December 2011 the Perth Scorchers made their way to Campbell Barracks for the team photos to be taken. These were taken firstly at the Memorial Rock and then in front of a “wall of fire” down on the Oval. It surely was an exciting morning for the Scorchers!

On 16/12/11 the Trust’s Inaugural Cricket Breakfast was held in the Boundary Room at the WACA. 139 guests attended including His Excellency Mr Malcolm McCusker AO CVO QC, Governor of WA and Mrs McCusker and the Premier of WA, the Hon Colin Barnett MLA. The guests were able to hear first hand from guest speakers Marcus North, Simon Katich, Paul Collingwood & Herschel Gibbs on how they thought the Perth Scorchers would go in the new KFC T20 competition. New Coach Lachlan Stevens was first up to the Dais and was keenly interviewed by our wonderful MC, Mr Trevor Jenkins (ABC TV). Lachie handled himself very well with the barrage of questions fired at him by TJ!
Memorable Speeches were given by Mr David Williams, Chairman of the WACA (who generously handed over a cheque for $10,000 as a donation to the Trust), Chairman of the Trust, Hon Peter Blaxell and finally by the Commanding Officer, SAS Regiment.
To conclude the morning guests were encouraged to “dig deep” for the auction items by our Charity Auctioneer and good Trust friend, Mr Rob Druitt. Rob’s efforts helped raise $5,150 for Trust funds.
For a first effort the Breakfast was a big success and we look forward to planning the 2012 Cricket Breakfast for the Trust and the WACA.
