Western Derby Breakfast

240 guests enjoyed a delicious Breakfast at the Parmelia Hilton Perth Hotel on the morning of the 12th May for the annual Western Derby Breakfast.

This event has been held since 2003 and once again, the “doyen” of MC’s, Mr Trevor Jenkins (ABCTV) was in charge of the festivities and the guests all enjoyed his wit but most of all his professionalism in making the Breakfast run very smoothly and on time.

We were privileged to have amongst our guests the recently retired Governor of WA, Hon Dr Ken Michael AC and the Governor Designate for WA, Mr Malcolm McCusker AO QC.  Trevor was very eloquent in his praise of both Dr & Mrs Michael during their tenure at Government House Perth.  Trevor wished Malcolm well in his new role as Governor of WA.

The Panel Guests comprised Mr John Worsfold, Senior Coach, West Coast Eagles and Mr Mark Harvey, Fremantle Dockers.  Joining them were WCE Club champion Mr Mark LeCras and young Fremantle champion, Mr Stephen Hill.

The Breakfast was rounded off with a Charity Auction conducted by our very good friend, Mr Rob Druitt.  Rob was as his best in getting the guests to spend their money and $4000 was raised for the Trust funds.  A bottle of 1996 Grange (donated by a guest) went for $1000 and a Dean Alston framed cartoon for $550.00.  The football, signed by the Panel guests went at auction for $500.00.

In 2012 we will hold our 10th Western Derby Charity Breakfast; this event now well and truly entrenched on the Perth sporting calendar (thanks to the great support from the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Football Clubs).
